My favorite thing about this Connecticut Beach Session? When Mom said, "and you captured their personalities perfectly!"
Here's the thing... Kids are going to be kids. Family photos are not supposed to be perfectly posed, statue looking images. At least not in my opinion. I've known this family for about 5ish years now. I met them when baby sis was born and we photographed her newborn session. What I love about them is that mom knows sessions are going to be chaotic and kids are going to show their personalities in the session. To think that we're going to get the kids to sit and smile on queue for the whole session is just not realistic. When we left, mom said I hope we got some good ones because admittedly the session did feel chaotic (probably more for the parents than for me). And as it turns out, mom ended up purchasing the whole gallery because she said she was so happy that I captured her children just how they are right now. And I think that's what is most important and what people often forget. Having your family perfectly posed in photos isn't the reality of how your family is right now. We'll get that image, and it's fine if that's your vibe, I'm not knocking it. I'm just saying to not feel bad or discredit these fun images too, because this is your children at their realest. This is them at their current age. And this is what makes them unique. This is what should be documented.
